Welcome to Marysville Getchell Select Basketball FAQ

Feeder programs are generally limited to players who will attend a specific high school within your district boundary, though there are exceptions.  AAU teams are a bit different in that they have no limits on where they find their players.

Boys and girls in grades 4th through 8th.  If you have a child who is a bit younger, they are allowed to try out and play up.

The coaches are a mix of parents and non-parents. Through the MGSB screening process, MGSB looks for those who not only understand the game but also are positive role models, strong communicators, able to build confidence, teach accountability and sportsmanship, and create a positive team culture. At MGSB, we look for those who encourage a growth mindset, focus on character development, and player development. 

The cost for participation in the 2026 - 2027 is $560 per player.  There are options to reduce the cost.

1. If you pay in full, you will receive $50 off the total cost. 

2. By joining the board (a couple of positions are still available), you would receive $280 off the total cost. 

3. Lastly, there will also be a raffle that MGSB participates in that will help offset the cost, which has a maximum of $250 off to be earned towards the registration fee. 

The boys practice on Mondays and Wednesdays, while the girls practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be times when they practice on other days due to gym availability. Both teams have sessions twice a week at various locations in Marysville, primarily at Marysville Pilchuck High School, Marysville Getchell High School, and Liberty Elementary School.

Practices last between 1.5 and 2 hours. Each player is expected to attend practices consistently.

Each team will play in league games and at least three tournaments. 

The season runs from October to March, and if the team makes it to the state championship, they will play in Spokane in mid-March.  

The boys' league games are on Saturdays, and the girls' league games are on Sundays. 

WESCO Youth Basketball was created to develop players for their future high school programs. Teams are organized by feeder schools, so players who will eventually attend the same high school will eventually play together. 

The Swish League operates January through March and has roughly 10-12 games a season. There are 3 divisions to ensure competitive matchups.

The girls play WESCO and could play SWISH as well, though that depends on the coach. The boys' team can't play both as they happen at the same time, and the Coaches will decide which league they will play in.
