1. Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to coaching?
I’ve been part of MGSB since 2016 as a parent and coach. I was appointed to Director in 2020.- 21.
I have coached multiple disciplines through the years to include, Baseball, Boxing, BJJ, Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Paddling, and of course Basketball.
Coaching is part of my DNA. I started coaching to help provide guidance for our youth and help them build life skills through sports.
2. What has been your most memorable coaching moment so far?
Most memorable to date for youth basketball would be in 2018 MGSB 6th v Team Pure - we were down 9 with 30 sec left for the SHIP. Bubba Palaacol hits 3 threes to force overtime.
In OT, he finds a spot, drives and gets fouled missing the shot. Bubba gets to the line sinking the game winning Free Throws for the WIN!! This c/o 2025 squad went on to be the winningest MGSB team to date.
3. How do you approach training and development for your athletes?

1. What inspires you as a coach?
I’m inspired by the potential to help athletes grow, not just in their sport but as individuals. Watching them overcome challenges, improve their skills, and develop confidence is incredibly rewarding.
2. What has been your most memorable coaching moment so far?
I will never forget the joy in our team’s faces when they finally beat snohomish and won the turkey shoot tournament. To see all their hard work pay off was amazing.
3. What qualities do you look for in an athlete?
While physical skills are important, I look for athletes who are coachable, resilient, and have a strong work ethic. A positive attitude, determination, and the ability to work well with others are equally crucial. I value athletes who are committed to growth and who demonstrate leadership on and off the court.
